To help you get the most enjoyment out of dancing at Floating on a Melody Ballroom, we have put together this list of Frequently Asked Questions.

What’s the dress code?

Dress to impress! Please no jeans, sweats or gym shoes.  We request that only dance shoes be worn on the dance floor.

What is the profile of the dancers who come to dance?

Our dancers range in age from early 20’s to 70+.  Dancing brings together people of all ages and backgrounds who have one thing in common:  they love to dance!  Our dancers are very welcoming to new attendees.

Is there parking nearby?

Free street parking is available on Ogden Avenue and nearby side streets.  There is also a city parking lot around the corner on Amelia Avenue.

What is your pricing policy?

Anyone entering the ballroom must pay an admission fee upon entering the ballroom. Please go to the front of the ballroom to pay admission. Cash only, no debit or credit cards accepted.

Private lessons must be paid for in advance. Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hour notice are subject to a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given for private lessons: a credit for unused lessons will be given and credit is good for one year.

My partner and I would like to get lunch or dinner before the dance.  Can you recommend a nearby restaurant?

We sure can!

  • P.J. Klem’s, one block south, is a sit-down restaurant with reasonably priced meals. They also sell awesome homemade fudge in several flavors. The owner Tula is a friend of ours and is very welcoming.  Let her know we sent you.
  • Pop’s, also one block south, offers Italian beef, hamburgers, hot dogs and a variety of soups and salads.
  • Waterworks Tavern, located one block north, has great pizza.
